Eco entrepreneurs reach out to the crowd to expand their energy saving website

An entrepreneurial family have turned a passion for environmental sustainability and reducing their energy bills into a ‘go-to’ website for energy efficient products, Sust-it.

The Sust-it energy saving website came about after the Lammas’ built an energy efficient home in Gloucestershire, back in 2006.

When they completed the build, focus turned to their appliances and electricals, which had been in storage for three years.

To their surprise they found a lack of understandable information on the energy usage of electricals in any one place. Only after careful research did they discover the vast difference between appliances energy consumption, sometimes hundreds of pounds worth electricity.

They thought there would be lots of people also looking to reduce their energy bills – to help them save money and also reduce CO2 emissions too, the Sust-it website was born.

Ross Lammas from Sust-it said, “now is the time to take Sust-it to the next level; I see energy efficiency becoming key to any purchasing decision, especially as smart-meters will make our energy bills more transparent.

“We’ve built a successful website without any budget and with limited time resource. We’re now looking for funds to step-up our operation and implement our marketing strategies in order to develop Sust-it into a household brand.

“Crowd funding seems the most democrat way to do this. We’re looking forward to our users investing and becoming part of the Sust-it team.”

They are now looking to funds to expand Sust-it into new markets through crowd funding website CrowdCube.
